Heartland Group

The Heartland Group had 4 independent companies operating within the business. It badly needed some brand alignment so that its customers, no matter where they were in the world, would recognise the brand and the quality it promised.


The Heartland Group is a collective of four Nelson-based orchardists, a national and international marketing and logistics company, and two packhouses.

Each of these businesses operated as separate entities with their own brands. It was obvious from the outset they needed some brand alignment.

We assessed the brand values and decided to keep the strongest part of their brand mark (originally designed by Designworks in Wellington).

  Featuring a heart and an apple, it epitomised the group’s philosophies and single brand value of "love apples".

We incorporated this device into the existing Yummy brand mark, and created a new visual identity for the Heartland Group. It also features on the individual orchard brands to help communicate their association with the Group.

We have also been worked with the eve™ brand to promote this apple as the best eating apple on the market. Material includes print media, web, point of sale, packaging and promotional material

To help customers recognise the Heartland Group and their promise of quality we put their 'love apples' brand mark on everything they owned or touched.
